Speaking to one of my neighbours today I was surprised to learn her 11 year old twins still believed in Santa. They've been to see him, sent him a letter, sprinkling reindeer dust in the garden tonight (?) - the whole lot. Think I found it more bizarre because she'd taken them for a bra fitting the same day as visiting Santa! I know its none of my business and too many kids grow up too fast these days but just wondered what kind of age others were when they worked it out.

He sees if you are sleeping , he knows when you're awake , he knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake !!
Santa would have to have evolved greatly from carving puppets outa wood to making the electronic gadgets there are to day or is he allowed to buy them them from the money from the patented name santy.
What's not to believe?
who's patented it, weecalf?!
I'm sure your neighbours children know perfectly well that Santa doesn't exist but are playing along for their own amusement and for the entertainment of their family - with all those activities arranged around xmas I imagine they are just humouring their mother (and hoping to get some gifts out of it at the same time).

One of my (slightly older) friends told me, when I was 10 or 11, that there was no Santa Claus. It didn't bother me in the slightest.
I was going to say the same as IggyB. Enjoying the "games" isn't the same as believing.
ooo Scrivens, you are a cheery little elf aren't you
Think that back in the early sixties I was about 9 or 10 when a friend confirmed what i had bean to wonder about a year or so before. However, I think children do generally find out earlier now which is a bit of a shame.
Them box tops they did it can say anymore cause

My 5 year old grandson has just been in tears because we lit the fire, said Santa couldn't get down the chimney without getting burned, his brother who is 9 is not sure whether to believe or not, but erring on the side of caution I think.
Santa has magic powder that he sprinkles down the chimney so that he doesn't get burnt.
My youngest who is 10 still believes and I am worried for when she starts secondary school next year. I know she really does and isn't just saying so to get presents. She's already aired her concerns for the ones in her class who say hes not real and what will happen to them xmas day. She will not be happy to know we've been lying to her and I'm not looking forward to it one bit! Our eldest was about 9 I think when she told us he wasn't real and she swore she wouldn't ruin it for her little sister, I guess she really didn't lol
When mine was about 10 or 11, I was concerned about when he went to 'big school' and still believing, so I just stopped talking about FAther Christmas altogether. I didn't 'break the news' to him. That would have been awful.
They learn from their friends anyway, whether they are at "big school" or not. I dont think parents have to "break" it to them. Most kids realize when they just cant have everything they want. I remember one of my sons wanting a bike, and when his friend down the road got a bigger and better one Xmas day, he thought it was because he had been better behaved during the year. Poor mite, I had to tell him we left out money for Santa, and we didnt leave out as much as his friend's parents.
My 10 yr old believed it last year, but doesn't this year. Probably from friends at school, although I'm not sure his three older brother and sisters saying "thank you" to us each time they opened a present, helped:-\
