Gender Scan
11 Answers
My partner and I have a gender scan/4d scan booked for our twins this Saturday and we will be just under 17 weeks gone. The clinic that booked it gave us dates for booking around this date, we have just had a normal scan at the hospital and the sonographer seems to think that we wouldn't get a good enough image at the gender scan to be able to tell what they are. Anybody had a 4d or gender scan around this time and were the results correct. I don't want to navel it because if the clinic doing the gender scan know it can be done this early, then it must be okay, surely? Advice please?

I don't know if they can tell the sex any earlier than 20 weeks or if it just coincides with the scheduled developmental scan.
Also, it's worth remembering that it can be quite hard to tell the sex from the scan. Our local Health Board stopped telling parents for a few years as there had been some bad press about them getting so many wrong! They've started up again recently and folk are still complaining that they were expecting a boy and got a girl, and vice versa.
Very exciting to see your babies though. I've heard the 4D scans are brilliant.

You can always have it verified at your NHS 20-week scan?
