Morning guys! Ok, to cut long story short - my hubby sent me a txt yesterday whilst he was at work, saying his friend was going to Las Vegas in October for a week to celebrate his 40th, and could he go? He reckons his friend is paying for everybodys flights and hotels, and all he has to provide is spending money, which I find hard to believe for a start. Oh, and he needed to know by the eve as his friend needed to pay that night! Now apart from the fact that he clearly has know for ages and just wanted to put me on the spot, I cant stand this friend. Every time he sees him something happens, and not something good .he totally changes when he is with this guy, and not in a nice way. His friend is just a hard drinking gobby single bloke and the last person on earth I would imagine being his mate. Hubby met him for a lunchtime drink a few years ago - and wasn't seen for 24 hours! And he wants to go to Vegas for a week?? I really really don't like the whole idea. Your thoughts??

Las Vegas is a very popular place for boozy anniversaries, weddings etc. They drink the bar dry half way across the Atlantic. It`s not unusual for someone to want do a big celebration there. They`ll probably just booze/gamble/sleep/booze and gamble. Very boozy rowdiness isn`t tolerated in the US in the way that it is here so he can`t get in that much trouble as the cops take a dim view of it.
Why go to Las Vegas, when this piece of delightful "crackling" is available in the UK?

Sqad,
What's disconcerting is that as one scrolls through your link there is an ad directly above the picture that says 'Enter Now'!
Chilli..LOL...LOL.
Play the "gooseberry", book a flight and go with them !
I like Whirly's answer.....but don't tell them...just turn up and take a camera for the look on his face...x

" surprise!!"......
The surprise may well be that instead of a plane ticket to Vegas he has a train ticket to Oxenholme.

Just a guess, mind......
Smow...the first MrG told me he was having a night out with a mate....til I decided to visit a friend across town and saw him arm and arm with a girl.
Now that I could take but....she was wearing a fur coat! That was beyond the pale.

I stopped..asked him to get in the car so we could talk. I said nothing but I drove about five miles into the country....ejected him from the car and drove away.....☺
What would happen if you just said no?
''all he has to provide is spending money'' ... well that's the house gone then
I think the crux of the matter here and the reason you are asking us is that your trust has been sorely tested before - otherwise you would see it as a one off and think no more.

Explain to him why you are finding it difficult.

Hope your son is more settled now.
Smow if he sent you the text yesterday and needed to give his mate an answer by yesterday evening then surely this has already been decided? You must have discussed it last night? No?
I love Vegas, been twice and going again for honeymoon. If my hubby to be wanted to go with his mates id have no problem with it. Because i trust him. I know what he's like. He' s a friendly person and talks to everyone but thats as far as it goes

seems to me you wouldnt trust him to behave and would worry all week. Vegas is what you want it to be you can have quieter nights or big drinking nights. Depends what the friend wants when he gets there after all its his birthday

ps he'll need plenty of spending money

ladybirder - when he got home I told him it all sounded highly odd ie friend stumping up all this money etc. Said he just acted an idiot whenever he was with him and didn't like the idea one bit. He got hump and worked in his office all eve. Knowing him he's already said yes.........

Oh dear god snags.........lol. On a serious note though, how many ladies here genuinely wouldn't have a prob with it?
I wouldn't Smow, OH went to Vegas for a stag weekend about 18 months ago (which was handy as I did up the bedroom while he was away) that being said, I haven't had the challenges with him that you've had with your OH.
I'd have a problem with this for sure ! You want a holiday in the states for a week ? Fine I'm coming too !!! Especially given his track record !!

Btw what's what with the boy ? Still at dad's ?
Yes, the issue here is not just the holiday - it is the worry of a repeat of past problems.
