would you HONESTLY see all of your family and friends right?

I know it seems to be the 'done' thing....and the politically correct thing....to do but I know that there are certain members of my own family who I wouldnt give a penny to. Certainly would see my friends all right but I can choose my friends, cant choose my family and dont see any reason to boost their bank balance by virtue of been related. Does suddenly coming into wealth make everything ok?

Not all the family. Just the ones I like. Depends how much you win as well.

I can't see much point in too much money, so for me my family would have to come first....The kids, the grandkids.... my Brother and Sister are both rich so they wouldn't need it

I'd give it to the children as in the current economic climate their chances of getting on the housing market are slim

I have discussed this a lot with OH. I don't think I would because apart from my daughter I wouldn't want anyone else to know if we had a big win. I'd just start posting to AB from my finca in Menorca :-)

If I won the lottery and it was substantial (£ 2-3 million) the only people I would 'see right' would be my children . I would make sure they each had a house paid for outright. I don't have any friends but if I did i certainly wouldn't give them any money -one good way of spoiling a friendship I would think.

I don't think sudden wealth makes everything ok, it helps with tolerance though ! x

If I won the lottery I would see my immediate family all right. However, with my winnings, I would hire a Lisbeth Salander type character (girl with the dragon tattoo) to absolutely ruin one particular member of hubby's family!

We have no family and 'friends' for want of a better word beat a hasty retreat as soon as Mic became ill. So no. I would move to a bigger and better house, employ full time care and spend it all on us.

No, coming into wealth wouldn't make any difference, there are some I wouldn't give anything to (for the mere fact that one is quite wealthy already and wouldn't help me out if I needed anything). I would certainly help out my children and grandchildren and those I consider to need some help.

If you don't have any friends how can you comment on the value of them? It is what you have got from their friendship, not what you hope to get.

The few friends ive got...the ones that have stuck by me in recent times...would certainley be in for a few quid in their bank account. //I don't have any friends but if I did i certainly wouldn't give them any money -one good way of spoiling a friendship I would think.// I can half understand that but wouldnt be offended if the tables were turned.
My son would have a decent chunk of coin deposited in his account as would my mum and one of my sisters. I think the rest would have to try and work out where my wealth came from and when I die find that its all been left to charity and theres none left for them. Had sweet FA from them in life when I needed it.

I would be selective with both friends and family.

I would certainly would not give the same amount to everyone. There are some members of my family who are very comfortably off. There are others who have struggled for years. I would give nothing, or a small token amount to those who are wealthy.

Same with friends. There are some people that I would pay off their mortgage. Others I would just buy a few beers.

Agreed Grom. Ive got a niece and shes constantly pleading poverty and yet she is working, her partner is working as a debt collector, working cash in hand at a pub and gets 90 quid a throw for driving a party limo as and when required. Their kids have both dance and horse riding lessons. They have two cars, are saving to go to America for their hols and pay babysitters when they want to go out (which is every weekend) and then say they are skint. They were witnesses for me at a court trial last year and my mum had to pay their taxi fare to make sure they turned up at court for me. (said they couldnt afford to get there on the morning of my trial) Wouldnt get a penny from me now. Hurtful in a way as ive always been close to my niece but she is money mad and has recently asked my mum (recovering from cancer) for her xmas money.
So no Brucie Bonus for them if my numbers come up Im afraid.

this is a true story, know 4 guys,in their 60s,they were mates,worked together and lost their jobs together,they had a go on the lottery when it was a quid a go 2 of the guys couldnt afford to play both draws,i know it was only an extra quid but they only paid the sat draw,the remaining bloke had the same numbers on the weds draw as well,he won 360 grand on the weds draw...and never gave the other 2 a penny,i know he was not legally bound to,but out of kindness you would have thought hed have slipped them a couple of grand each...being mates and all...oh well thats human nature i guess...
