50Th Wedding Anniversary

We are due to have our 50th wedding anniversary party in a few weeks, has anyone any ideas how to keep the party atmosphere going and stop it flagging.
We are not having a DJ ( they seem uncontrollable) but we like music.
Any suggestions please would be very welcome

Congratulations - I hope you both have a very happy day.

Get someone who knows your musical tastes to put together a sequence of tracks - one from each year since 1965 in date order.

That should run for around 3 hours or so and invite some memories as it goes along.

Can't offer anything better than Dave's suggestion.....I've been to a party where this was done and it went down really well......x

at our 40th we had our grandaughter and 2 friends doing the music from the 50s 60s and 70s it went really well, a lot of people cancelled booked taxis as they didn't want to leave xx oh and i spentime going round talking and singing (badly)with the guest .plenty of wine was ladled out by niece who played barmaid making sure glasses were topped up often lol x

oh yes oh also pinned copies of wedding photos round the garden and also original cards we received .have a great time xxxx

Would having someone put together a disc of snippets of tunes/songs from the last fifty years and do a..."Name that Tune"...fun quiz be too organised?

Perhaps you should re-think your decision about a DJ.

A good party DJ (I know - I am one!) will discuss what you want for your guests, and stick to it.

Get someone with references, and make sure you see him or her work before your night.

It's time and trouble, but a good DJ will seal the night for you, so one is worth finding.
