Was over during the week when Window-cleaning man came to the door for payment, FIL gave me a tenner to pay the guy and was most annoyed with me when I returned with change.
The fee was £3, did give the guy a tip tho, but between me not liking the window-cleaner and thinking he would/could happily rip people off, I ain't happy.
Any suggestions on how to handle the situation?
Should I be at FIL's everytime I see window-cleaner about?
So was it FIL’s window cleaner and can FIL afford to pay him a tenner? Because unless FIL isn’t mentally competent and you have his POA, I don’t see what you can or should do. BTW my windows cost me 12 quid each time but the house is fair sized.
a SIL controls her dad's finances, will have a word with her.
She already pays the milkman, so not much more hassle for her to pay the window-cleaner too
My window cleaner charges £4 and that is what I pay him. At Christmas, I give him £8 but that's it. Not very honest of your F-i-L's window cleaner if he's been taking a tenner off him.
Hi alba x
3.00 sounds very little, how many windows? Does he have a neighbour you can trust to leave the money with? Is your father in law forgetful? I'm asking as obviously my suggestion wouldn't work. Difficult x
My window cleaner is £25 and that is for 5 windows of medium size. But we do have salt spray from sea on them. £3 is low! V low. Do you live in the 1950s? Perhaps Fil in his 80s is about to die and is spreading his wealth before he pops off?
