10 year old daughter
14 Answers
I have a 10 year old daughter who wants to shave her legs and underarms. I have always shaved but not sure if it's ok for her to start so early - she's pretty hairy tho! Any suggestions? Also, anyone got any suggestions for whats a good cleansing range for her as she's now starting with the dreaded spots. Poor kid!

would waxing be best? I am in my 30s and only wish i had done this earlier in life - hair so much finer. Not sure if it would be painful for her. I found painful at first but they say that is because I had shaved previously. Could be expensive for you but really a good beautician does it so quick it is fine. not sure about beauty product - something gentle like simple or something?
sweet little thing!
message to your daughter . do not shave.hairs will grow
darker and spiky . speak to your daughter found out as well why she wants to shave. bullied at school or girlies talk.
have regular girlies talk she is curious as well and requires guidance with a lot of things thrown at her with todays youth pressure.
Encourage her with her daily hygiene routine especially if she suffers of spots bless her.
buy together a good gentil exfoliant, sug: body shop do one that is very good without parfum [ sea weed ] with the face wash and a gentil moisturiser.
the purpose of exfoliating 3 times a week at night to remove grime and blocked up pore causing spots she must maintain this regime within a month should clear up.
May be hormonal too. encourage a good healthy diet.
needs more help?

Hi troute
I would go with chazza's suggestion of an electric razor, rather than a blade until she is confident with what she is doing.
Clearasil are aimed towards young teens (I know she's only ten but I'm guessing she's ahead of her years as some kids are) I would go with the Simple range tho as it is for sensitive skin so is much gentler for such young skin.

I shaved early-didnt ask my mothers opinion-just knicked her razor. Wish I hadn't. Although if I'd have asked my mum she'd have said shave as she is blonde and not v. hairy so doesn't know how horrible it is to have thick spiky black hairs! I'm dark and hairy and the smoothness doesn't even last 24hrs when shaving and the root is always visible under skin. Discovered waxing when I was 20 but the damage had already been done by 10 yrs of shaving! I know she's only ten, but waxing would be so much better. They'll grow finer and take ages to come back. She'll thank you in the long run!
