been let down...

I work with a gay guy we are friends we get on well - occasionally he's attention seeking and self orientated...although he has been a good listener and I trust him at work.
Yesterday he finished work early - I said shall we meet for a drink when I'm finished as he'll be away next week...
So he said yes - he was going into central London and said that he would meet me when he goes back home (he lives near my work)...
Anyway, so we arranged that I would meet him at 10:30 at the tube. I left my office at 9:45 and got stuck in the rain!
Then at 10:20 he text me and said he hasn't even left the bar in central London - because he was meant to leave the city at 10pm to be at the tube for 10:30...
so basically that meant FORGET IT
I'm angry because he didn't even let me know earlier and I wasted half an hour walking in the rain.
I havent replied to his message.
Do others think that I'm being over reactive?

He, must of met someone and then realised the time. cut him some slack. would you feel this way over a friend who needs to find a date. You were going home anyway.
I'd not mention it until he arranges to meet you again, then say
Well sure but if I get distracted by some other fit guy, I might let you get wet for half an hour first before I let you know I'm not coming.
by not saying anything now makes you understanding.
Saying something later means your not a push over.

I was reading this and couldnt understand why you had to state he was gay, any friend whether gay or straight shouldnt have let you down like that. I hate people being late if they cant be bothered to let you know, fare enough things dont always go to plan but you should always keep a person informed of plans if you have made them
if you are a female you can send him a really bitchy text and when you see him at work swing your gaze with very pursed lips theatrically in the opposite direction and avoid him for the rest of the day until you bump into him in the staff room on your own so you can have a crying tantrum at him and walk about with your mascara running down your cheeks.
If you are a male tell him to F%ck off!
