Venture photography

Anyone ever used Venture Photography? Was it any good? I'm asking because I've won a free one hour, family photo shoot and a small print.

Does anyone know the prices of their prints? I've had a look at their web site but it doesn't seem to show a price list. I'm particularly interested in the photo album and digital photo album - can you print from the digital album at home?

k8bailey .............don't do it . They are a complete rip off

typically �800 for a cr@ppy picture. i say cr@ppy because the standard of the pictures we had taken was awful. I could have done better myself. they try emotional blackmail to get you to buy the pics.

very expensive apparently mate, try pixifoto i got 7 pics for �80 ( 4 were 10x8, and a 20 x? wit 3 other pics along the side)

My friend had some done and they were different and stylised, but tasteful, although I've seen some tacky looking Venture photos too. She said it was very expensive and I suspect they will try to sell you bigger prints costing hundreds. The free photo session is a way of drawing you in.

Thanks for all your answers, I'm still going to go for my free shoot and print, they won't be able to get any money out of us, we're skint and its not my taste to have family pics on the wall!

How do they stop you from printing from the cd? I'm not very technically minded, but surely theres a way around any copyright?!

I got a voucher a couple of years ago, and we decided to go along for the 'free' shoot.. they really make you feel like idiots if you just want the 'free' one... like you've wasted their time! they do deal with the top end of photography.. (rich people! haha) so you do feel a bit silly just asking for the free one.. which as explained to us you only get free if you buy another one! we ended up spending over �1000!!! the photos are gorgeous, but you can definitely get similar styles for A LOT cheaper!!!!!

it says on their website you can buy a digital photo album on either cd or memory stick. - is that new or a lie?

I've 'won' a �140 voucher - I was told that �50 covers the shoot and the other �90 will pay for one small print. She's going to post all the details to me today, if its not a free print unless you spend money we won't bother going!

As others have said, its not really 'free'. They will take loads and loads of gorgeous very expensive photos of you all and pressurise you into buying them. The free photo will be small and crap and it will be very difficult/embarrassing to refuse the others. I personally wouldn't go.

My cousin had some done - and their work is fabulous. SHe was really fortunate as she was given all the prints for free and they should have cost hundreds! Her little girl was diagnosed terminally ill aged 5 and so the photographer offered to do them for free and gave her the prints all framed and a DVD with stills on to music. The photos are fabulous.... just amazing... though they are very expensive!!!!! So dont be fooled there.

What part of the country are you in as I know someone who has started her on photog business and does all venture style shots but not for the venture price! She is based near Bracknell...

I paid for the 25 quid pic, but my (rich) ex did the full album for �750 of the kids. We then (illegally )scanned the photos and printed copies for all the grandparents. The results were good but very overpriced

One of our neighbours had these done and although the photos are fantastic - she's got 4 photos in the middle of a big block under glass. However there was a flaw on the glass and it took a solicitor to get it sorted out. Not sure if something was wrong but one of the photos faded after 6 months and they had to get it replaced.(I think they give a guarantee against fading) more hassle.

I havent 'chosen' to go to venture, I HATE having my pic taken and I also don't like having pics of the family around the house, I like potos on the PC or an in an album. I'm just asking about peoples experiences because I have won a free photo shoot and one small print.

I was really only asking the prices thinking, if they were cheap we could buy a few to give to the family - that clearly isn't the case.

I'm going to check that the one print is free without any other purchase, if it is we'll go, if not we won't bother. I can hardly afford nappies this week so we definitely won't be buying any of their photos!!

My brother was given a venture free photo session and free print as a present so we went with him, myself kids and my mum. It was good fun doing the shoot, my son brought some toys and he got to mess about a lot in front of camera, we did enjoy it a lot BUT it was not nice when we came to see the photos. they arrange for you to come back for the viewing and they show you the best photos on a huge screen with music and they even show some of them on a wall in a room. The photos were amazing especially as my daughter was only 4mths at the time. if i had money to burn i would have bought most of them. i couldnt afford to buy any and my brother and mum couldnt either so it wasnt a nice experience. we got the free one which is lovely but very small. I am not sure why they are so much, it is �800 for a cd and the framed prints for wall are at least �1000 going up to �5000. My friend is a professional photographer and she had an interview with venture once, she turned it down as she saw how horrible it was for people when they saw the photos and could not afford any, she said they were being ripped off, its a brand that sells on its image of being the best but its not any different, apart from the price.

we had our first shoot with venture and it was fab the pics were the best quality i have ever seen. they are expensive but if you want to capture the fun in a family life they are soo good despite what people say they are by far better than any high street photographer. ive had pixi photo and fair enought they are good for your run of the mill pic but ive now got some really special moments captured of my children and they were worth it without a doubt. there is also however a company called studio 22 i dont know if they have them in england etc tho but they are the same style but cheaper, we had a second shoot with them for a special occasion we wanted to capture and although i noticed the difference in quality they were very close(i notice the slightest detail!) we bought a dvd of our pics for �260 and although its not HD disc it is fab as my hubby has a 40inch tv which we use as a picture frame for them and just play the dvd slideshow of the pics, if you can afford to get a small collection of your prints i would do it! hope you have a good shoot!!

Have just had a venture photos shoot done, and although it was a bit pricey, am really happy with the photos- my husband and I got married in Vegas last year and wanted some nice photos done with our children as they weren't there for the ceremony.
I also bought the digital album, which includes 15 photos. Was wondering if you had any luck printing from the cd, or the usb stick ? i know that they are copyrighted, but there must be a way round it! any help would be great!

Hi Aliciakh Sorry I can't help - we decided not to go to the shoot as the prices are a rip off! Glad I didn't since you say you can't print your pics. Hope you find a way around the copyright :)

You are going to love your Venture Session. It is such an amazing experience that even if you choose not to buy something for your wall, you will be glad that you went.

In my experience Venture provides amaing photographs which really captured our family. I am disappointed about the below thoughts and I am sure that you will find them NOT to be true when you go!
