Blood test results
2 Answers
A friend of mine had some blood tests as she keeps getting some sort of reaction where her face swells up. I think it`s some kind of anaphylactic reaction so the doctor did some blood tests. It might be unrelated but when the doctor phoned her, she asked her how much alcohol she drinks as something came up in her liver results. My friend has been polishing off a bottle of wine a night as she is going through a really acrimonious divorce.
She said she didn`t catch everything the doctor said as she has a strong German accent but it was something in the blood that should be 1.2 upwards and her`s was 1. What would that be? I know gamma gt can reflect alcohol consumption but I think that is high rather than low.

GammaGT are globulins found in liver cells and normal levels are between 0-55...again no help.
Perhaps lazygun or the Prof both Abers could give a better answer.

Thanks Sqad. I think in the search for what was causing her face to swell up they have found that her liver isn`t quite right and it is caused by her alcohol consumption. She`s awaiting a scan. I just wondered what it is in the liver that reflects damage from alcohol. I didn`t realise that the liver could have a bearing on what is probably an allergy so that`s a bit clearer.
