what does this stuff taste like? also, how much does it cost...was thinking of using it in spag bol/chilli etc. but it must taste petty good or else mr kicker and the boy will refuse - they are fussy beggars! mtia x
I don't think Quorn has any flavour really, but it does absorb alot of the flavours that are added to the recipe.
The cost is under £3. I buy it all the time.
I make Chilli, spag bol and sheppards pie with it...uummm.
Give it a try and see what you think.
use a little stronger stock than you would normally that helps or mix it 50-50 with normal mince if its just the health benefits you are after rather than being veggie
Daughters partner is a true red meat eater and turns his nose up at anything he deems 'veggie'. I always use Quorn mince (don't like all the tubes and fatty bits you get in minced meat) and made him a shepherds pie, he didn't believe us when we told him it wasn't beef mince.
You don't need as much as normal and you certainly don't need to cook it for as long. I usually fry it off with a beef oxo cube sprinkled on it for flavour. It is a slightly different texture so its more obvious in some dishes than others - for example my hubby would eat it in lasagne but didn't like it just as a spag bol sauce over pasta.
I love mince, my Daughter is a veggie, we have cooked it, I wouldn't feed it to the dogs !!!
Masma "(don't like all the tubes and fatty bits you get in minced meat)" where on earth do get your mince, Tubes and fatty stuff!!! Ive never seen that in any mince!!
don't ever get any 'tubes' or 'fatty bits' in my lean beef mince!............where do you buy yours!.............I would change my butcher masma!.........
