I remember in the 70's being able to buy "Thick Devon Onion Soup" in a packet, I think it was by Batchelors. It was white and creamy and delicious.  I have looked everywhere for it and can't find it, did they stop making it?

I don't recall this but I can recall a lovely tin one by Heinz, which I always had when not well
Bearworld1, I'm so glad you remember this too.  This was my absolute favourite and would manage to persuade my mum to give me the whole pan full - accompanied by a plate of hot buttered toast. Yum!!! I think it was done either by Batchelors or Knorr and nothing produced today comes near.  Aaahh, heady days . . . .
I can't recall either & if you can't find it, try Heinz - delish!
Yes it was Knorr that sold thick white onion soup, I have been looking for it for about two years as it was my favourite. I contacted Knorr and they no longer do it in this country, however it is sold in South Africa, and can be found in most South African shops in the UK or online. I look wherever I go, interestingly we found red onion soup in Cyprus, by Knorr!! I found this website by typing in thick white onion soup as my frined in the USA was trying to find it for me, so I said I would see if I could find it in the US via a Google search!
