Malt Whisky help needed

Hi Malt drinkers. I bought hubby a bottle of malt last year and, although it was recommended, he thought it rather strong and mighty. Can anyone recommend a smooth, honeyed malt that I could buy him this year please. It will have to come from one of the main supermarkets though. Thank you. Cheers.

They had 20% off. I'd like to thank you all for your great advice. As for best answer, they're all great and you all deserve a best answer 'gold star'. Thank you for your civilised answers too. Sometimes you get quite rude replies on this site when you post a question. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas... in both senses of the word.
