I've been known to do that with ordinary spuds, depending upon the main.
Wouldn't they come out like bullets though Graham?
It's not bad at all albs, you can fry an onion in there too, we have it as quick side with a fry up.

They've just lifted a poor spud crop round here, so be warned, the price of tates is set to go through the roof.

What else did you get for a tenner?
No. The tinned spuds are quite moist and already cooked. Just a short time in the deep-fat fryer to brown them and they're fine.
1. slice if big and put into a little hot olive oil in a frying pan on a high heat. let them brown on one side before turning as they will break up if you aren't careful. when you have turned them one and are just waiting for the other side to brown, sprinkle over some finely chopped fresh rosemary and coarse sea salt

2. put in the hot oil with some finely sliced onion. Cook on a medium heat not stirring, just turn the potatoes once. the onions will have black crispy bits. Season well and serve.
PS you can add sliced garlic to version 2 but do it near the end of cooking as burnt garlic aint pleasant.
on the same wavelength woof

put a bit of chorizo/bacon in and serve with a fried egg
do people not in your clique always get ignored?
problem mally?
Use tinned potatoes to thicken soup if I think it's a little on the thin side. Great standby.
mallyH was the first to suggest frying them.
Yes. I hadn't noticed that when I posted the same advice.
I've never used tinned ones, but I'm sure they can be adapted for 'Crashed Potatoes' ; After they are softened by boiling, lay them in a shallow tin, crush them roughly, sprinkle with plenty of olive oil, garnish with herbs and grill until the tops start to become golden brown and serve.
I always keep 2 or 3 tins of tinned pots in my cupboard.
They are delicious when fried and saves so much time as when cooked in the oven. I feel a tinned potato fry up coming on haha.
They really are just like roast potatoes x
I'm sure alba wasn't ignoring you deliberately mally - a comment like "already answered" might be a bit less harsh though
mally, in threads like this, people will often add their own suggestion or recipe without checking the rest of the thread, like I did. No offence is intended.
ive tried to join in before and got overlooked , thought its because im a new aber .put it down to forgetting to change my clocks
^ wot woof said mally
Welcome Mally. They're a rum lot on here but you get used to them.
I've deep fried them also-and pan fried...they're not bad. Season well-as they can be bland compared to fresh potatoes.
I would think that if you heat up some oil in baking tin till really hot then chuck the potatoes in, they would come out fine.
