This is a really daft question...

If I make some choc chip cookies, how long will they stay edible for? They usually only last a day or two before they all get eaten in this house, but I'm planning on making some as wee Christmas gifts for some friends and family.

Just trying to figure out how long I'll have between making them and giving them.

Hi -I always find homemade biccies taste best when very fresh - why not make them then freeze them individually on a tray, pack them into bags and cook them the day you are going to give them?

Thanks magsmay, that was going to be my next question - could I freeze the mixture and cook it later.

Do I need to defrost the mixture before I cook them?
Roll out your mixture or blob it on to baking trays covering in baking parchment and open freeze. Once frozen put them in plastic boxes with parchment in between.

When you want to cook them just take from the freezer place on a baking sheet and leave on one side for 15 minutes or so and then bake as normal.
