Just after having some weetabix with a little milk - knew something was funny - but ate it anyway - thought it was a bad taste in my mouth - however it was the milk - can't believe it bought it on Wednesday night and right enough had a sniff of it - completely off - looked at the date 17 March - I am finding my milk always going off - I think the milk has never never been the same since putting them into these plastic containers which have to have to chemicals in them to make them - no wonder there are so much sickness - between clingfilm and clingfilm dinner and microwaves - I believe it adds so much to sickness. The bottles of milk were the best - I know I have talked about this before but this afternoon has put me really off. The fridge is fine because nothing else ever goes off. What do you think.

It would be interesting to know where you bought your milk. I find that milk bought from the Co-op frequently doesn't last until the date on the bottle, whereas milk bought from Asda and Tesco is usually OK well beyond that date.

I am fed up with it like it happens frequently - am usually throwing litres out - when I think of the Ethiopians having nothing - this not right. Am that mad started to google for glass bottle milk nothing came up. However my cousin get glass bottled milk when I saw her gleaming milk bottle outside the door I wanted to ask her where she - she said right enough a milk man - but there was other stuff going ie conversation never got around to asking about him - will do another time as right now she has the flu - so don't want to bother her but they are out there some where.

That's unusual. I don't buy milk from Sainsbury's as often as I do from Tesco or Asda (simply because I have to go past Asda, Morrisons and Tesco to get to my nearest Sainsbury's) but I can't recall any problems with their milk.

If you write to Sainsbury's to complain you'll probably get a phone call from a very nice lady, followed up a few days later by a £5 gift card. (You can tell that I'm not slow to complain!)

I dont have this problem and I use plastic milk containers, is the temperature of your fridge cold enough? is the fridge functioning properly?
complain to sainsburys.
Get a milkman, they deliver milk in glass bottles.
Can you get Cravendale milk in the supermarkets in Ireland, conne? That's brilliant, it lasts for ages and ages after you've opened it.

I don't think it's anything to do with the plastic containers, I wonder if your fridge temperature needs checking?
I find that with our local, small co-op Chris. I don't think they keep the fridge cool enough.

cazz - as I said in my original posting the fridge is fine as everything is in great shape and I freeze a lot of food too - definitely the fridge is fine.
Actually, this might sound dumb but I often find it hard to tell when milk smells off as opposed to just smelling like milk.
You'd know, Evian....
Just going on personal recommendations from a few people I know, but they don't deliver in my area so don't have first hand experience.
Perhaps it's the shop's fridge which isn't cold enough, perhaps the mil is starting to turn before you buy it.
I honestly wouldn't Ummm. I've got a terrible sense of smell. I can't even smell cat wee/spray :0/
do you use the same shop? maybe they don't cool the milk adequately?
I can't say I have a problem with milk going off.

I buy organic semi-skimmed, usually in plastic and occasionally in cardboard cartons.

There have been grumblings about the use of plastics in food packaging but I can't recall seeing any peer reviewed empirical evidence to support any claims of a detrimental effects on health.
Nope we never have that problem, I suggest you look at the temp of your fridge, our milk bought in plastic containers lasts for over a week.
