Went out last night to a well know brewery's chain of pubs to sample their fayre. On the menu it had haddock and chips, cod and chips and fish and chips. Three of the party had fish and chips. As it did not say which fish it was we asked the waitress and told it was panga. I looked up what Panga was and it's other name is Vietnamese River Cobbler. It is a type of catfish from the Mekon river which is one of the most polluted rivers in the world. It is fed shredded fish from South America and even human urine. amongst other things. There are warnings on this internet saying do not eat this fish. I think it is also known as Basra. Anybody enjoy this fish. ?

What's the differences between haddock, cod and fish?
The 'fish' was Panga
Chip shops have advertised like this for years, "fish" often being ling.
I can see why certain parties might wish to promulgate scare stories about this fish. I can also see that where it is raised in unsanitary conditions then it will be not fit to eat, the same as any other fish...or meat for that matter.
I but frozen fillets and eat it and enjoy it.

One of the things they say about eating to much of the fish is you are confused by the letters t and y . This is one of the first stages
mick you are so funny i am rofl......not.
Don't like catfish type fish. But. Do love prawns. And prawns are known as the cockroaches of the sea. They eat all the crap. Yum yum.
as do lobsters.....
they reckon fish is good for you, this is why I don't eat fish - Yuck!!
Basra....is not a fish. I suspect you mean Basa. I have eaten this to no ill effect. Human urine, if fresh, is often high in the water soluble vitamins.
They sell Panga around here and it's lovelyXX

I was eating a lot of basa and river cobbler until I saw the YouTube video, we haven't touched it since, revolting.
You could pay for cod here but not be sure of getting it.
