When I was growing up, Anchor was the butter of choice in our house. There was nothing like it for scrumptious toast or buttered bread dipped in deep orange egg yolks. I've been using spreadables for many a year now. The other day I decided to treat myself to 'proper' Anchor. I almost wretched at how salty it was. Can anyone recommend a 'proper' butter, with that lovely buttery taste but without that overpowering salty taste?

you moght be better off just trying some - tbh they all taste the same to me!
Kerrygold, I prefer it to all other butters. We no longer use the spreadables and have invested in a really good butter dish from Lakeland so we can keep the butter out of the fridge but not have it go off or turn to liquid.

Not cheap but well worth it in my opinion.
Lurpak (slightly salted)
Look out for ones which actually say unsalted butter on them. Lurpak do unsalted butter. Personally, I like salty butter.
Lurpack.
Expensive but well worth the cost.
I don't have it very often but I like Morrison's own, much cheaper than others and I like it the best. I have Bertolli I use usually though I don't use spread very often either.
Why not just try their unsalted version.
The only butter we use is unsalted. Aldi's own is as good as any.
Lurpak slightly salted or even unsalted. I even like the kerrygold

Lurpak slightly salted for me too. Normandy farm butter is rather good too.
I don't really know about Anchor Butter, have always used Lurpak, never buy the spreadable one though, I like the original one, it doesn't seem salty to me............
Quite like President butter - unsalted, buy Lurpak too. Afraid I'm a bit of a shopping tart I might like the more expensive kinds but I shop with what's in the purse so I buy when there's a special offer on the more expensive brands or I buy the supermarkets own unsalted, Tesco's is quite nice as is Aldi's
I buy Asda smart price butter, but use Countrylife spreadable on sandwiches, etc. I don't use much salt in cooking and no one says that the butter it too salty so I presume it's ok salt-wise.
I use lurpak.
If you've seen Last Tango In Paris, you'll know Marlon Brando like butter....
Not allowed butter. Rather go without any other spread.

Anchor does unsalted too.. Anchor do seem to have a very short shelf life compared to others though. Some of the supermarket brands are quite good now - Waitrose and Sainsbury's. I
Yeo Valley unsalted, Lurpak unsalted, Waitrose unsalted, Sainsburys unsalted, President unsalted, Rachel's Organic unsalted....take your pick!
