Water Filters?

With the high price of water bills these days I find it annoying to have to buy a jug and filters, to get a decent cupotee.

Without it the cups are scummy and really off putting.

Up to now I have used the taller universal filters because they are a little cheaper. However they seem to only last about 2 weeks, so am considering changing to a new jug and wondering what the difference is with the flatter dumpy style filter and do they last any longer. None are cheap so I really have to work on the cheaper option first.

Can anyone tell me the difference in the newer type/size water filters and the older style and any other info please.
