Soft Brown Sugar ?

Someone left the bag open in the cupboard and its now gone like a solid brick!
Short of whacking it with a sledge hammer, is there any way I can bring it back to being soft again.

Interesting. I keep mine in plastic container but still went hard. Will give the terra cotta thing a try.

The brown sugar hardens because the moisture within has evaporated. To avoid the mess of the damp towel inside the bag, just remove the sugar from its bag, place in an open plastic container and place in the microwave along side a small bowl of water for about a minute... recheck for consistency and add another 30 seconds at a time unitl soft.

The sugar heats up during this process so beware of being burned...
