rusty, I know nothing about cooking, so is a lasagne without onion unusual then ?.
And..?
The ragu?
Question Author
Every lasagne recipe I've seen has onion in it!
Right, so it is unusual then, rusty.

I didn't see any Italian herbs going in as well. Do you think it contained some 'chemical assistance'? LOL
My Nonna never used onion in her sugo (ragu) when making lasagne. When she made sugo for pasta she always used onions.....go figure!
I've just made a ragu without tinned tomatoes or passata in it, first time ever. Who knew!
Oh yeah, no garlic or herbs either.

Not everybody likes onions
I thought he put some onion in with the carrots after he'd fried off the minced meats. That's quite normal.
Rocky...how did you make it?
He put, celery, carrots and an onion, but no garlic.
Ummmm, this recipe, Eccles suggested it the other day.

We made a shed load and it's all gone, I thought I'd have a load left for the freezer.
Thanks Rocky...I'll give that a go :-)
rocky, that recipe is very similar to the one they did tonight. I never put any veg apart from onions in mine, but am going to try them next time.
It was so far removed from what I would usually consider as a ragu, a lot drier. Next time I make it though I'll add a bit more stock to make it a bit wetter.

It's lush :)
