Bbq Question

My bbq is too big and eats coal as the depth is to deep. What can i do to raise the coals nearer to the grill? I was thinking of those heating bricks that they used in old heaters but are they safe and if so where do I get them from?

It might be cheaper in the long run to buy a smaller BBQ.

That's what I asked originally cleggie but am looking for those heat bricks or possibly floral scenting wooden bricks made from a stout wood that burns long and strong.

Are your coals on the base of it or on a grill of some sort. If they are on a grill then you could just put a few bricks under it, or if not, then just get a grill and put some bricks under to raise it up a bit.
