I have just had two enormous doorsteps of toasted Cheshire Cheese with lashings of black pepper.

Carbohydrate, fat and salt, with a bit of protein thrown in. Not terribly healthy but utterly delicious!

What's your scrummy, fat laden snack?

lashings of ginger beer and hard boiled eggs with salt in a paper screw...

i know my enid :-D

I don't want cake anymore, my mind has moved onto chocolate...
When I was in the shop earlier I noticed they were selling hard boiled eggs, 2 for £1.29. Crazy!
I've never heard cheese on toast referred to as toasted cheese, everyone I know calls it cheese on toast. Wonder if it's a regional thing, or maybe a posh thing...
Fat laden snack for me is crisps, crisps, and a few more crisps. Or a huge wedge of soft, fresh white bloomer with an inch of extra salty butter spread on it.
Omg I LOVE cheese on toast , with Worcester sauce!!
I have cheese, but no bread :((((
i like cheese on toast but since the better half bought a new fangled electric toaster i find the cheese slides off of the bread before it.s toasted

There's no answer to that JG. You'll have to work that one out yourself.

No bread, Jo? Can't you get to the shop?

Eth, I think the term toasted cheese must be a regional thing.

Crisp sandwiches are lovely, so you could have crisps on your soft white bloomer.
I love parmesan crisps...who needs bread??
A big pile of finely grated parmesan...and a non stick pan or tray+ hob or oven. Cook till bubbling, cool slightly. A crispy crunchy heavenly cheesy crisp....yummy.
Question Author
That does sound yummy, Pasta. Do you stir it or just let in bubble in the pan?
Just let it bubble,Tilly. Make a nice pile...spread it slightly. It'll spread more as it cooks. You can make small ones ( a tbsp of cheese) too. It only seems to work with parmesan...other cheeses go rubbery.
Question Author
Thank you, Pasta. I'll give it a go.
Toasted cheese refers to a toasted cheese sandwich, cheese on toast is a layer of cheese on top of bread or toast then popped under the grill to melt.
I reckon it's a posh thing, leave you to decided which is the posh one... ;)
Question Author
To me, toasted cheese is a layer of cheese put on on an untoasted side of bread, then popped under the grill. Hence, the cheese toasts under the grill.

It doesn't matter really, what we call it. It's a lovely snack.
Hands up who lightly, or even heavily, toasts the bread before applying cheese?
Question Author
I toast one side but not the one that the cheese goes on. So my hands are definitely down.
i toast the bread first then microwave the toast and cheese, doesn't everybody?
I toast first then put under the grill.
We've just had what we call cheese and tomato on toast...one side of bread is toasted, thickly sliced tomato is laid on the untoasted side then slices of cheese laid on top. It's then put under the grill till the cheese melts, copious amounts of tomato sauce are then spread over. Yum.
You do need a few bits of kitchen roll though.
Question Author
No, ael. How can it be toasted cheese if it's microwaved?
I 'heavily' toasted the bread this time, to the point it got thrown in the bin...
