What's the most interesting or complicated or scrumptious thing you've made recently?
I confess, much as I do love cooking (and eating) good food, I've not been very adventurous lately for one reason or another. I really need to make a batch of the famous ragu but can't be arrised at the mo.
I have some Swedish meatballs in the freezer so may make a sauce to have with them this week, don't hold your breath though.

Shepherd's Pie here. Followed by rice pudding, maybe.

I choose to ignore Jackdaw or any others who complain about food related threads, that's my final comment on it...maybe ;)
Most complicated, or maybe most drawn out, thing I ever made was cherry berries on a cloud..totally delicious but not sure if it was worth the three days it took to make.
I love fresh fruit brûlée a la an old sainsburys recipe, and I think scallops done any which way are my all time favourite food.
Ooh, Eccles, must look that up, does sound rather good. I do a mean chicken basque but yours sounds very nice.
“Jackdaw you are a miserable old devil and the nature of this thread is blindingly obvious from the title why piddle on others parade?”

Don’t hold back, say what you really think, lol.

Jd it’s true it’s a food thread with in the title.

I have a shewee for anyone needing a piddle..
Madam, I was merely pointing out that for those who wish to indulge in fatuous culinary drivel there are other sites available, such as FB or mumsnet, where they can indulge to their hearts' content.
Question Author
We like to indulge here though, in the food and drink section, perhaps we all got that wrong though? Maybe news, or shopping, or religion, or motoring, or law, would be a more appropriate place?
What ya reckon ?
There's the AB Food topic too.
Question Author
By the way Jackdaw, what did you have tonight??
No, you're not, JD. You are deliberately putting your spoke into a quite innocuous thread that some of us are happy to contribute to.
I use neither of those sites you have mentioned. I am quite happy with AB.

What's FB and mumsnet???
I have two lamb chops cooking in the oven which I will have with boiled taties and cabbage, Mega LOL!

Gravy and mint sauce??
“Madam, I was merely pointing out that for those who wish to indulge in fatuous culinary drivel there are other sites available, such as FB or mumsnet, where they can indulge to their hearts' content.”

LOOL, you’re hilarious jd. So AB has constructed the “food and drink” category to not be used and hope we go offsite instead?

That’s like saying don’t use the news category and instead use daily mails comments or some other news forum instead.

My ribs are aching now.
Soz, forgot to mention the gravy, mustard and mint sauce,
I'd love the recipe for 'the famous ragu' if you could spare the time ....my only attempt turned out to be rubbish :)
“I have two lamb chops cooking in the oven which I will have with boiled taties and cabbage, Mega LOL!”

Cool, I’d advise not having any more alcohol this evening as well.

Bon appetite.
It’s roasted Rocky.
I am lost somewhat for words. However, I do seek clarification of the following;-

@jackdaw....Did Jesus have a chain guard on his bicycle to prevent his flowing robes being caught-up. ?

@Tilly...What does heaven smell like.?

@ethandron......Are you really going to be saucy this week. Also are you the ABer who gave a wonderful recipe for Chicken Basque which Gretel and I still enjoy.

Hans.
Question Author
Mustard? MUSTARD?? With lamb? Are you bonkers?!?!?
(rhetorical question, don't bother to answer :) )
It's Antonio Carluccios ragu recipe seeker, just google it, its rich, deep and tasty, not a tin of tomatoes near it.
been up at the hossie, the snow not too bad as to the roads.

so just a ribeye, panned off in olive/sunflower oil/smidge of butter/French sel der mer and a chipotle rub (secret recipe).......

accompanied by fat chips with a little goose fat, three times cooked (twice before I went out) and steamed veg, small quantities of french and broad beans, baby sprouts and mangetout and peas (shorter steaming time for the last two), some pea shoots as a garnish.
