Oxford indoor market used to have them,but they would be picketed by vegans now!
I remember when butchers had sawdust-covered floors and meat carcasses hanging on hooks. No longer.

Ha ha - when I was working in Albania I said to a friend that I would like to buy a chicken. She took me to the open air market and said just to pick one out. Problem is I would have had to kill and pluck/gut it. Changed my mind.
We still see meat hanging on hooks.
We have just the one butcher's in our town, long-established. At one time there were butchers everywhere.
It was normal to see rabbitsts hung up in butchers windows too(with their heads all covered)
.... and live eels in the fish shop too, ready for the fishmonger to chop their heads off before selling to a customer.
We have a local butchers. No fishmonger though. We used to have an amazing fish market. It's a bus station now.
We do have a butcher, but he's more of a sausage seller, and only open 3 days a week. Not worth finding a parking space for, though the sausages are quite good.

I reckon if the birds are on the wing, yet hung, there must be a lot of flying feathers around.
My nephew used to work in a butchers and he said the packed chickens when they went out of date, they'd sniff them and re-label them. It kinda put me off.
Plenty of hung rabbits in the butchers round here.I’ts the Maltese National dish.
The ethnic shops round here have whole goats and lamb hanging up!

In Ludlow there are a lot of old school butchers that do fabulous things like wild boar and venison and you see everything hanging up there, pheasant, rabbits etc and there's a proper fish monger in Tenbury Wells which is nearby too. I need to go and have a mooch down both before Christmas x
Lots where we live in the country - and chickens, rabbits, pheasant, etc.
