Where can I obtain dessert, tinned, red cherries. I used to be able to purchase them from most grocery shops many years ago. They were bright red, contained their stones and were in a syrupy juice. We used to play Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Sailor with the discarded stones. I haven't seen them for certainly over 30 years. Can anyone please help?

I was trying to buy some to make a cherry sauce but no luck. I had to buy fresh cherries and a cherry jam.

Plums are another hit and miss.
I've only seen the dark ones in a can, but I do have a jar of cocktail cherries that are bright red (they don't have stones). I got them in Tesco, they sit with the pickles, strangely.

Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose do them.
We used to serve them with Brandy and whipped cream
Thanks Danny, I'll make my own as my food delivery is coming today :-)
The 'Bright' red cherries were coloured with artificial colour. This was found to be a possible Cancer hazard. You can still get 'natural colour' red cherries but the colour is a lot less intense.
EDDIE if that is so why are cocktail cherries still bright red?
Probably read it in the Daily Mail...
Or perhaps he learned about it when he worked as a chef.
Cocktail cherries are intended as a garnish or decoration , they are not classified as 'Food'.
ummmm EDDIE Snopes say you are wrong wrong wrong

Errrm that's not true Eddie, they most certainly are classified as a food.
This is how misinformation abounds.
