I only taste soup when i am out on the ranges in winter. I find a large flask of my home made mulligatawny soon disappears when I share it with my mates. Oxtail next,Pea and ham or London Particular. All home made though Sainsburys tinned oxtail is good. I agree.

Current favourite is green lentil and tomato with some added chilli.

I'm not sure I have a particular favourite. But I do like home made with a nice chunk of home made bread.

I made a huge pot of tomato and basil soup a few weeks back with the last of the toms out of the greenhouse - it was delicious, but I rather think that was down to the nice fresh ingredients.

Quite like roasted red pepper too.

Now I'm thinking I'll do "bottom of fridge" soup (mixed veg) for tomorrow's dinner.

Homemade: My Good Lady's spicy parsnip soup is a winner here.

Shop: Don't really 'do' tinned soups although have recently got into Lidl's Pea & Ham Hock.

Parsnip soup is pretty high on my list, but not if its spicy. Butternut squash is good too. Definately an autumn dish, so all the autumn veggies make the best soup.

Thanks Buenchico so basically Pea and Ham, another favourite of mine if made with a real ham hock but they are difficult to get these days.

While in Germany, i was lucky enough to attend the Oktoberfest twice and both times i had some Dark Beer Onion Soup. A beef soup flavoured with, among other things of course, a quite dark German beer. Went down very well and got the old taste buds ready for a bratwurst. Then, of course, a copious amount of beer.

I get my ham hocks from Morrisons. Always have them but agree they are difficult to find elsewhere. Sainsbury sells them on the bbq spit counter already cooked.

Quite basic for me really, I love tomato soup, followed closely by pea and ham. Dad used to make his own pea and ham soup, which was fantastic !

I believe I can dig out alternatives for this soup if required. As you say. Basically a pea and ham soup. The London Particular was a Pea Souper ( Serious fog) of the day.
