I have a recipe for it, similar to bread and butter pud but this one has rum and marmalade plus some double cream in it. Delicious. Have already bought mine for Christmas :)
It is great either warm or cold but there is a problem with leaving some over to get cold! It has an egg custard poured over it prior to cooking in a bain marie.
Ooh, delias marmalade bread and butter pud could only enhance a pannetony..err..pan et tonne..err..that funny Italian Christmassy thing.
Mum, maybe I ought to buy one??? On second thoughts
All pannetone I've ever been offered has been dry and tasteless. Stollen much better and we prefer the Lidl one. Courgettes are a fantastic vegetable but in a good summer people who grow their own get too many at certain times. My neighbours really appreciate the excess though.
Good ones are delicious, moist light and full of fruit. I can personally reccomend the waitrose Heston black forest one and the Waitrose cherry and cranberry.
I adore Stollen but comparing it with Panettone I'd equate to comparing red top skimmed milk with double cream. Every time I'm given a panettone 3/4 of it goes out to the birds.
I've always loved panettone...and I've never had a dry one. I've always found them to keep very well, staying moist for several days. They make a great bread and butter pudding.
