Help needed! I can't get to my butcher and he can't get to me. Family is begging for my fabulous toad in the hole and the only place I can buy the sausages from is Tesco.
There is a huge selection - can you recommend any? Must be ordinary pork sausage with no extras such as tomatoes or leek.
At the end of the day it comes down to personal taste. I find a lot of sausages are too spicy for me i.e the amount of pepper in them whereas it wouldn't bother someone else.
A cousin of mine once did an experiment with his kids. He bought the cheapest food and the most expensive food and each time, they preferred the cheapest.
I heartily recommend the ones I linked (gettit?) to, of course I have tried their others and some are nice too but Barry wanted good quality pork with no added extras and to me they fitted the brief.
Barsel, I have to agree with you about the chewy skins on the Finest Range sausages. So what I do now, is lightly fry them for a couple of minutes first, then finish off in the oven. Much better, no chewy skin.
Patsy, the cooking instructions for those sausages are oven (preferred) or grill. Maybe it is the frying that makes them tough.
I have bought Mamya's sausage
I put them in the slow cooker with shallots and a bit of stock. after lightly frying them.
If you have a Tesco Clubcard, you can often get the sausages at a lower than marked price.
Barry, Ive always cooked my sausages in the oven. The only thing that spoilt them, ( tesco finest) was the tough skins. We got fed up with it, so I thought I'd lightly fry first. Did the trick. :-) Hope you like your sausages!
No pasta, as has already been said, the skins are too much for me. The 8 British pork sausages Tesco brand are the ones I buy. I recommended them a while back on here.
