On Saturday I bought several items from Asda for the fridge, for dinners throughout the week. However I've just noticed that they are all Best Before today! Granted I should have checked dates in the shop but I assumed the shelf lives would be longer than 2 days. I've now just crammed the lot in my overfull freezer. Do you think it will be ok and if so will it deteriorate as it defrosts? It's a large pie, pack of sausage rolls and beef mince.

I'd have done exactly what you've done. I know it usually says to freeze on day of purchase, but it's been in your fridge which is no different to it being in their fridge and also I think that they are very careful about sell by dates now and tend to err on the side of caution.
Best before only means that. It doesn't mean unsafe after. Spudqueen's right - supermarkets err on the side of caution and you can usually keep stuff for days after its date.

These are all things you're going to cook, so as long as you let them defrost properly and cook them thoroughly, you should be safe.
Just checked with my husband who`s a butcher & he says definately NOT to freeze the mince or sausages. The pie should be ok.
It shouln't say best before it should say USE BY or SELL BY. Best before and sell by/use by are two totally different things. First can be ignored second can't
Asda has gone totally down the pan these days, their dates on their food is ridiculous!!
I regularly do this if i haven't used things as quickly as i thought i would and doubt it will do you any harm whatsoever. These days i think we all get a bit over obsessed with this kind of thing.
