Can you come up with some alternative recipe ideas for beef mince. I do all the usual but I always have it in the freezer and would like to something different with it.

I'm no chef but I found this site really useful. http://www.recipezaar.com/r/ls=h/fid=2955/titl e=beef+mince

The thing is princess, Shepherds Pie (which i assume is the usual stuff) is a wonderful meal. Simple nutritious and quite scrummy. I think you should invite me over to share a a big plate with.

would you come over for a big plate of cottage pie (i just cant eat lamb sorry), Ill do you something extra special for pudding.

If im in a hurry, I fry it up, add an oxo to make a little gravy and put on dry toast. Very nice. (Would beat Ainsleys meals in minutes)

Cottage Pie is just as good. Is it wrong to put baked beans in with the actual mince?

MInce on toast???? interesting.

Question Author
no my mum used to do that. Mince on toast maybe you would prefer that??

I will stick with Cottage Pie. Made with beans and a little melted Red Leicester on top and some decent gravy.

I make the best gravy.... thats the truth xx

Charlandy - if you really are in a hurry why cook it?

Think steak tartare - stir in some dijon mustard, few capers, egg to bind and season - eat.

Meatloaf - yummy

I don't know what your usuals are...
That makes the answer a little difficult.

When I am in a hurry, or don't feel like BIG cooking, I fry the mince slightly with some Onions and tomatoes, then add some stock and pasta. (The pasta must just be covered with liquid).

Leave the pasta to boil in this for about 10 minutes and dinner's ready.

You can add some frozen or canned vegetables, too.

Other than that, I only use mince for lasagne, chilly con carne, or a pasta sauce.

chilli, spag bol, shepherds pie, cottage pie, burgers, pies, pasties, tacos, burritos, lasagne, cobbler, meatloaf, use it to stuff peppers?
Chilli cobbler, well instead of cobbler you make dumplings. Serve with bolied potatoes, a simple but great dish.
This is my favorite. It is done as soon as all the cans you have put in get hot, however, it improves by simmering a while. I make a huge pot and freeze containers of it.

Taco Soup

1 Pound Hamburger Browned & Drained

1 Pack Taco Seasoning

1 Can Rotel Tomatoes (has peppers in it)

1 Can Dark Red Kidney Beans

1 Can Corn Whole Kernel

1 Can of Water

Mix together & cook until it looks done.

After you put it in your bowl taste it, it is great that way and less fattening then put a big blob of sour cream in it and mix it up then taste it again.

Garnish with black olives, cheese, onions, chives whatever makes you happy.
