cucumber

i heard that if someone dislikes cucmber it is because they can taste something in it that people who like it can't. is this true, are there any websites that i can find out more?

I will happily eat cucumber in Greece, because they taste sweet. But hate Cues in UK because they taste very bitter and rancid. Suppose it could be all in the mind, being on holiday in foreign country so I think things will taste different, but I keep trying UK cues and they are horrible.

This may sound really silly!

My Dad ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS cuts the ends off the cucumber and rubs it against the cut end...he says that his Scottish Mother said that it would take the bitterness out of it? HOw I don;t know - I like cucumber - but if you don't and do taste that bitter taste that the rest of us cuke lovers dont...try this and let me know:)
