I love grilled cheese on toast However cleaning the grill afterwards is such a pain ! I do put foil in the bottom of the grill pan so that I can just lift out the drippings, but the grill itself gives me real pain. Anyone got a quick answer ?
Just one of life's liitle problems I'm afraid !
Being a cheese on toast fan myself ..I just wash it up with soapy water and a Brillo pad or if there is room bung it in the dishwasher.
We put foil on the grill itself rather than in the bottom of the pan. You can still get cheese on the grill, if the foil rips, but on the whole it stays a lot cleaner.
Cheers Sue
I have a combination microwave/convection oven/grill which i couldnt be without for various reasons - wasnt expensive either 104.95 5 years ago. I have never used the grill in my cooker (bought within few months of microwave) It saves more electricity, time, mess etc etc than a little. I would recomend one to everybody. I know it has nothing to do with cheese on toast but....that and cooking meat in slow cooker makes it so so easy to get 'proper' food on table very quickly when i get in from work!
Having considered all of your replies carefully, I think the best way to deal with the problem is put the foil on the base of of the grill pan, making sure that it overlaps up the sides, throw the grill away, and place the bread directly on top of the foil. Will try this asap
Sorry to disagree but for decent toast, or cheese on toast, the bread must be on a wire rack with a space underneath. Any cheese which drips down is easily removed when it is cold by a quick scrape. Don't use water until you have scraped off the cheese
Grill Cleaning is a really painful task. You can use the Grill brush and soda with warm water and iron cleaning gel which make your task easy for a cleaning the grill.
