Hi could anyone settle an argument?

The term "a round " equates to how many slices of bread when a sandwhich is made ?

This is a bit of a 'non-answer' i.e. it won't really settle your argument! :

The 'official' definition (i.e. according to the Oxford English Dictionary) of a 'round' refers to a (single) slice of bread.

However, I used to help my friend with her catering business and I'm sure that she would say that a round of sandwiches requires two slices of bread.

So, as I see it, a 'round of bread' means only one slice but a 'round of sandwiches' requires two.

Thanks for your answers I said that It means one slice and as the Oxford english says the same then thats good enough to settle my argument. ( he he ).

good question really as once I think about it my dad would ask for a 'round' of sandwiches and I would use 2 slices but a round of toast is one slice. Funnily enough I have never confused myself over this though I've only just noticed the error!
