I recently went to a pub to meet a couple of friends. This
was the first visit to a pub for some years, and I ordered a glass of diet-Coke for myself. I wish I hadn't, as I was
charged 1.30 for it. Stunned, I enquired the price of
a pint of ordinary bitter......

Can anyone afford to drink in pubs....anyone ?

Go elsewhere. A can of Diet Coke currently costs 80p in my local. (And regulars moaned when it went up from 75p a few months ago!!)
Beer is cheaper usually, makes you wonder why so many people turn to drink!

Our local ran out of lager last year so went to the Londis shop across the road and bought loads of cans at 84p each and then proceeded to sell them for 2.50 each...
