Sea salt is better for you than normal table salt. You can also get a herb and salt mixture- I think it's French, which is also slightly better than normal salt. My advice is to try and make food taste more interesting using herbs and spices- garlic, paprika, pepper etc. After a short while your taste buds adapt and you actually go off salty food!! Also if you avoid eating processed food, you will be drastically cutting down on your salt intake without even realising it!
Check out Lo-Salt (brand name). You can get it in the supermarket.
Try and avoid micro wave meals also, they're generally loaded with salt.
Have a look here http://www.regional.niagara.on.ca/living/health_wellness/hea lthyeating/pdf/Salt%20Facts.pdf, it has some ideas as to salt substitutes. And I also thought sea salt was better for you,but apparently it has the same amount of sodium in it, so really no better at all...
There is a product called No Salt and taste just like salt, check in to that...
Some people (me included) find sea salt is tastier than ordinary salt so they use less. Was this what you had in mind Scarlett?

Lo salt is disgusting! Its got a weird taste+i hate it! Dont buy it! Bleugh!
I haven't used salt in cooking for years, (at least not added any) or put it on food at the table and have got used to it. At one time I used mixed herbs instead, but don't even bother with that now. Another way of cutting down is gradually reduce the amount you are using, that way at least your taste buds won't feel too deprived!!! Hope you get on ok...
