Peeling Cucumbers

Does anyone else peel the outside off cucumbers, apart from my mum that is?

Me, but only if I'm using them in crab and cucumber sandwiches otherwise it is skin on.

I just prefer my crab and cucumber sandwiches with the cucumber peeled

Me too, I always remove it for myself but I'll eat cucumber with the peel on if someone else has prepared it. They used to say leave it on to stop it repeating on you but for me it's the other way around.

My Mother-in-Law always peels her cucumbers. I don't bother.

I really like the (washed) peel on, but I do find it repeats on me. When choosing packets of seeds to grow your own, you may come across "burpless" varieties.

I like the crunchy texture of leaving the peel on! Also love to slice them and bottle them in vinegar for sandwiches in summer.

Years ago I was peeling my cucumbers when someone noticed me doing it and said you should never peel cucumbers as all the goodness is in the skins. Since then I have never peeled a cucumber. I still really don't know whether this is true or not.

It depends on what I am using the cucumber for.... and who for ! If for me, then I leave the peel on (it's got lots of vitamins just underneath) but some of my friends do find it makes them *burb*, so in tabouleh and other mixed salad dishes, I tend to peel it before chopping it up into little cubes.

Normally I leave the peel on, but if I'm making us cucumber and marmite sarnies I peel the cucumber - only reason I can think of is my mother used to make them like that when I was small!

I remove strips of the skin like I remove strips of courgette skins.
