When the '5 a day' guidelines were originally produced, baked beans were omitted from the list, largely because of concerns over the salt and sugar content.
As Mccfluff correctly indicates, baked beans have now been included in the list but with the advice that those who consume them should monitor their total salt and sugar intake (rather than avoiding any particular food item).
Thanks both .... alongside counting calories I am trying to ensure I get my 5 a day - and I struggled yesterday but did each some weightwatchers beans .... it's very rare I have them but thanks for the warning on salt/sugar content.
