that's what manufactures of 'easy-spread' butters do but it ruins the taste. I prefer a small amount in a dish dipped in boiling water to soften up.
i just put howeever ,uch i need in a small bowl and smash it about with a knife till if softens
Why don't you use 'Lurpak' spreadable? It really is even straight from the fridge.

anything that has flavour as I eat very little so it must taste good, I know its different with Family
I agree with tamborine! ok so it won't spread from the fridge, I just soften it, and then use it, tastes so much better! as long as you don't eat loads! I would never think of eating those spreads, they taste awful! Stick with the real butter, you can't beat it!....................welsh

Use a good old fashioned blow lamp, works every time
If you whip it, the butter will be instantly spreadable and the air you introduce will " Double" the quantity, it's a win win. Obviously, you would only do this if you have time on your hands.
