i had one of those crushed ice drinks I took a big gulp and a pain in my chest started and was the worst pain i think i ever had.Im sure It was the ice that caused it but i wondered wot it was that the ice had done to cause the pain? m.57years. Thank you for your time.

That shows what's meant to happen when you swallow something. However this 1981 study (by Meyer & Castell) found that the muscular 'waves' in your oesophagus, which should push food and liquids along it, can be brought to a halt when you swallow cold liquids, resulting in pain:
