Looby - I'm an Aldi fan. Never had anything manky from there. Haven't tried cuppa soups but will do now. Their fruit/veg is always excellent and miles cheaper than supermarkets. Plus cheese, ham etc.

hi lucca, yeah i bought the soups the other day and i thought oh theyre going to be rubbish, but i was really surprised, they really are nice - especially with the added pepper in them.
it was like their ice pops - simpsons ones - 75p for 20 in there. the same box in tesco - £1.35! .. a big difference isnt it.
Have just bought Horlicks but discovered am allergic to milk - shucks, will have to spoon it :)

yeah i was following the lidl thread with interest boxy .... seeing it grow by the second while my little aldi cuppa soup thread just sat there, all on its lonesome.... lol ;o(
Oh but your Aldi thread is classier. Not lonely any more cos 3 of us have joined in. Apart from food, their cleaning products are really good - one of the good mags (Prima, I think) checked out the whole range (floor cleaners, washing up liquid, laundry stuff etc), comparing them to all the dearest branded and own-brand stuff) and Aldi/Lidl came out top or equal top for everything. Far too much snobbery around. I don't buy cheap rubbish but their products are cheap good.

oh yes lucca... my aldi thread was so much classier .... lol .... thats why noone wanted to come and join in! ...

so i thank you lucca and boxy and tamborine for saving me having a red face! lol

if you all hadnt thankfully come to my rescue, i couldve just quickly created a few new names and got them 'all' to write in! all adding their bit, enthusing about my great 'classy' thread! .... pooh poohing the brash lidl one that was going on over yonder! :o)
When I went to see my nephew at university, i went to aldi shopping for him, and I bought him stuff that he could eat and that would keep, Cereals, marmalade/jam, pasta, pasta sauce, because the quality it there. There juices are lovely, and their cold meat is tasty and very lean. Apparently all the students shop there, because it's good value too.
Question Author
i agree mercia, there are some decent bits in there :o)
I love Aldi. Their Jams are excellent so is the custard broiche, I use it to make bread and butter puddings. Cooked meats are good and their cheeses.... all round value for money

dont you find though mazie that some people can turn their noses up if/when you recommend aldi for something, the look on their face is as if to say - oh i dont think so. but thank you anyway....
lol
Some do loooby, but that's their loss. the ones that do try are more often than not converted... I use Aldi fabric bags for my shopping and I get some funny looks! I find it amusing. I buy most of my cleaning products from their and their Kitchen roll is the thickest and best I've used...
i like the ham and cold meats you can get there, the one nearest to me is a bit of a distance though so its not often i get to go.
Do they actually have a cold meat counter?
I like their face creams :c)
-- answer removed --
I use their face creams CD, in fact, I ran out this morning so off to Aldi tomorrow. It's Vaccum packed cold meats they do, very nice I buy a ham very similar to Palma for wrapping my stuffed mushrooms in, it's £1.49 compared to about £3+ for Palma ham anywhere else
I used to shop at Tesco's then Sainsbury's. I now shop at Morrisons (their meat and fish is much better) and Aldi and I save a load of money each week. They can keep their voucher and point schemes I'd rather have the money in my purse each week
I use the green lid day cream, the blue lid night cream and the eye moisturiser. I also have some of their body moisturiser at man hostages but I still prefer the St Ives 24 hour over that. I think the face creams are great though, I had these lines on my neck that I really didn't like (they didn't stand out massively but I could see them if you know what I mean) and they look so much better. Plus they're so lovely and cheap, I have a set at man hostages and a set at home so no lugging beauty products all over the place :c)
they are excellent CD and at my age you need all the help you can get. At £1.89 or thereabouts it doesnt break the bank. My Daughter thinks I'm a pleb though
