Can you actually get any really salty salted peanuts? I know salt is not good for you but surely if you are buying something that is salted you are aware that there is (supposedly) salt on them?

I've had some peanuts and cashew nuts recently and I thought that they weren't as salty as usual. It must be something to do with the 'elf rules nowadays.
I'm amazed you can still buy pork scratchings.....
Crisps aren't as salty tasting as they used to be. Bring back the little blue packet.
They still have the little blue packet crisps. My favourite, but I hate salt so I throw the little blue packet away :-)

Hi ummm - I don't put much salt in food when cooking and never put any on my actual food but sometimes I just fancy some salted nuts (much more of a sweets person).
NB, never give peanuts to a child under the age of 8 years old, because they often dont have the required amount of teeth to chew them. some cases of aspiration/choking have resulted in children dying,,rare i know but it does happen,
I use salt for seasoning...never on food though. I can't stand the taste..

Hi Anne - not wanting to sound rude, but have got five kids and not managed to choke any of them on nuts or induce an allergic reaction, or poison them with honey, etc, etc (strange jump from salted peanuts to choking a child).
sher, i wasnt posting to you, i just have a thing about you children choking......never for a minute was it personal.
ummm isnt that still putting salt on food?

Sorry Anne - bit spikey today (poorly children, got a cold, husband has got man flu, etc, etc).
sherr,, just made it worse by saying you instead of young, at least you have havent made a ba^^s up of a thread, sorry to hear about the oh and the kids, off course your cold wont be as bad as anyone elses ?
Well yes...but when you season something you don't get the raw taste. Have you ever tried scrambled eggs with no salt or pepper?
Question Author
Hi Anne - one of the little ones has glue ear and both his ear drums have burst so he is in a right state (bless him), nothing worse than earache and he can't tell us about it. With a bit of luck a couple of days in the warm will sort us all out and they can have a nice relaxing break playing on the various X boxes and watching (endless) episodes of Fireman Sam.
in the warm ? have you tried a hot flannel over his ears to ease the pain. poor soul.
umm i dont put salt on my scrambled egg, but i do use black pepper and ketchup
umm i have made scrambled egg sarnie with no salt or pepper, and unbuttered bread many times, this is because theres flavour from the milk.

We have the routine off pat thanks - out of the five of them four have had glue ear (three really badly including him). The pain should ease now because it is better after they have burst - it is just the period leading up to them 'going', the others are old enough to tell me that their ears hurt but he is only 2 3/4 and can't talk for toffee.
how are you and the kids today ? hope you got some sleep. be well. anne
Snowy - No, I find it tasteless without salt and pepper. Same with mash spuds...butter and salt are essential.
