I have been doing my family tree for a few years now and am very happy with the progress I have made.
However, there is one detail I have been unable to find, and this niggles me all the time.
Mt great-grandmother was born Annie Isabella Johnson in 1882/3 in Hotham, Yorkshire.
She married my great-grandad Ernest Baker Curtis in 1901 and was widowed in 1916.
Annie re-married in 1929 in Crayke Parish Church. nr Easingwold, Yorkshire to a widower Frederick Wright born 1875 in Coxwold, but who lived in Crayke.
According to my sister my grandmother would have nothing to do with her mother-in-law, saying she was 'no better than she ought to be' which I think meant she was a bit of a slapper.
I cannot find Annie Isabella's death record. I've no idea when or where she died but have trawled through about 20 years up to 1950 (my grandma gave the impression she'd died before I was born). The only Annie I Wright I could find who was the right age died aged 60 in 1942 in West Hartlepool but when I got the certificate it wasn't her.
I can't imagine her straying far away from York. I thought if Fred had died (too common a name to look up) she may have married again, but I can't find another wedding for her either......
Have you looked at the Annie Isabella Wright registered in Q3 1983 ref 6 1768 registered at Leicestershire Central, date of birth 25 July 1882.
There is a cross family tree on ancestry with this annie in it but I';ll not gibe you the details on here, i can email it you if u like
cheers dot..........the problem is that my gran told my sister that her mother-in-law died before my sister was born which was 1946. I've searched all the deaths between 1929 when she re-married and 1946.............there are a couple of Annie I Wrights between those dates but neither of them were the right age..............
dot I think I've found her, but if it is her my grandma was fibbing about when she died. I've found a death entry for 1951 for an Annie I Wright in Bulmer district. The age is right and I think Bulmer would incorporate the village she was married in. I've sent off for the certificate....................
