King Constantine II (born 2 June 1940) became King of the Hellenes (official name of Greece) on 6 March 1964 and was overthrown on 8 December 1974. He lives in exile in London

Greece is also known as the Hellenic Republic and King of the Hellenes refers to the citizens of Greece not the country.

thanks very much both, help is always gratefully received:-))
Just after King Constantine came to the throne, a Greek lady friend told me there is a tradition that the part of Turkey in Europe will be regained for Greece by a king who has 6 toes on his feet.  According to her, King C. has that number of toes.  Doesn't seem likely so far - perhaps it is hereditary.
