I'm reading a history mystery and in the book the protagonist is invited to look around the house of a lawyer .It's stacked to the gunnels with various artefacts statues ,paintings etc .It reminded me of a museum somewhere in London that was in a private house but I can't remember the name of it .It's bugging me :)
Any ideas as to what it's called ?

Toast has kept me going this week.

Tell me, I have a picture I want for my FB profile but it says its too small, how do I enlarge it and keep it big?
Poor Mr N he works manually all day redoing bathrooms and tiles etc and tonight he came home shattered, then had to shop for some food, his nose is red and he's all snuffly, he made me a lamb sandwich which is all I wanted, he ate some curry thing he'd made, and then me proceeded to make a lamb stew for manana. I feel so guilty, he is shattered, so defo upping my game tomorrow.
he not me!
I lost two people in the last week (not in this country) to bowel cancer. One was a cousin in her 70s, the other was my first boss, a lovely feisty lady. She was halfway through a PhD when she died - they showed the work she'd done to an assessor who said it was good enough so far for an M Litt, so they gave her one at a private ceremony in the hospice a couple of days before she died. She was probably no older than me.

I say lost, I hadn't seen either of them for many years, but I had tried, we just couldn't get our timing right.

Oh that's terribly sad for you Jno .I am sorry .
You get awful things at any time of the year but it's sad when these things happen at what should be a happy time of year.
I can't believe my MiL has been gone four years today .

On a lighter note I've bought this as a gift for someone .It's hilariously funnily and when you switch him on he plays Let's Twist Again and his ears go round and round and up and down .....by the time they get it he'll want some new batteries :)

Oight Oight lovelies ,feel better tomorrow and sleep toight .
a great shame, shaney, it spread through both of them very quickly, just a month or two from the first diagnosis.

My, it's a real pea souper out there, I just went across the road to post a letter.

er, this is my house, isn't it?
12.12.12. Good morning, hope you are warm and cosy. Sorry about your friends jno, so sad.

Love the puppy shaney, funny how these things amuse us.

Haven't looked outside yet but according to friends on FB it is raining! I am off to medico at 11. Poor Mr N he's full of snuffles and we tried sharing the marital bed but I couldn't sleep for 4hrs until when he got up and went into hija's room. No hope, is there??

Woofy hope you are feeling better today and the rest of you.
I have swept the large patio, and put on a wash, little by little!
ha, loved the idea that the best way to find out the weather is to look on FB, not out the window. Very white and frosty here and no sun, but that's only my own eyes so I could be wrong, they don't function very well at this hour.
Morning all.......
It's minus 300 here...well it feels like it. I expected thick fog, it was really misty last night, but so far, so good. Just as long as it stays clear for my hairdresser to get here later, it's almost the eleventh hour and I haven't made up my mind how much to have chopped off. At the moment it's about the same as Sarah Lancashire's in Last Tango ...It was so good again, they even did the haunted house bit well and not too farcical.

Neti, I understand about Mr N, don't worry, he'll survive, but why do we often feel more sympathy for men? Women work hard, shop, cook, clean, look after kids and maybe a husband with man-flu and no one thinks a lot of it...but when the man takes over for a week or two, suddenly he's a hero.
(Not having a go, I'm sure he's your hero neti :))

Sorry your friends have gone jno...it's a year since a friend of mine lost her 27 yr old son to cancer, that was so sad. And I can't get to grips with being older now than some of my friends were when they passed away...they had always been the older ones, it's strange.

Shaney I love the twistin' pup. It would have freaked Charlie out, haha.
So sorry to hear your news jno. Neti i hope you are both feeling better by christmas. The fog has gone here but its still very cold and frosty. The bug is going slowly. Apparently it is 1. likely to last a week to 10 days and 2. easy to share, so i will be staying away from all but my worst enemies for the next few days. I am still stunned by the good behaviour of the dogs. today we will go and have a look at the sea.
I do think that Last Tango is brilliant. So often, series with loads of good actors are just over egged but this is excellent.
PS I love the pup too, couldn't have it here. the dogs would murder it. Robi I know what you mean about age...also without meaning it, my house is starting to look like my Mum's
lol woofy, I'M starting to look like my mum...maybe I'll tell the hairdresser to give me a short curly perm and my sister will think she's seeing a ghost, haha.... actually mum was about 5'2", I'm 5'7".
Keep on with the toast, it's my staple diet when I'm ill or very nervous about something and can't eat anything else.
ah, just had Marco Pierre White on the phone... well not really, just a minion... checking whether we still wanted our dinner on Sunday, so I said yes. It's a bogof, and I'm always up for cheap food.
Back from a wet nd windy village. I am still officially ill, he looked astounded when I said I wasn't feeling 100 pcent, he said off course not and by rights I should have spent the week in hospital cos I am over 65, but he looked at my history and not my dob so didn't realise I was 68! Nice! I wondered why he was being so serious (he's a locum not mine) I told him I spent the week in bed and he looked relieved and yes Robi I have to have another xray in 20days to check that all is clear, and to go immediately to urgencias if I feel worse. So I went shopping!

Hello all
Lovely sunny day but very cold .
Pleased to hear you feel better Neti and you too Woofy .I hope everyone else is fair to middlin'
It's just bad news by the bucketful here . More cards and letters .My friend in Spain, her husband has died and my old guvnor at the bakery where I worked has died .56.Drunk himself to death .Sad,sad.
Mr S is walking about with steam coming out of his ears .He can't get an appt at the Embassy to renew his passport for about three months.I did tell him not leave it so long but he knows better :)
He needs it to be able to prove to the Germans he is still alive regarding his pension .He's cussing the EU ,the Fatherland and all points north atm and now he's shouting at the tele........lol.
Poor Mr S, as a legal foreigner in a foreign land, I do sympathise, makes you wonder if all this red tape is worth the bother. We sit here year after year paying taxes etc through the nose and the illegals come in, take the work and use the national health that we are paying for, I tell you if I find one he gets very short shrift from me. Ooops my blood is boiling, now calm down neti!!
Oh dear, tales of doom and gloom. Not a nice time of year. I always find Christmas so very sad, not a happy time at all for so many families. Why it is made out to be such a happy time I do not know. The loneliest time of year for so many people. My commiserations to those who have lost friends and loved ones.

Went to the dentist and ended up with antibiotics and another referral to the hospital specialist to see if he can sort out my problem. My dentist admits it is not a job he wants to tackle, but he will if the specialist won't. I probably have to have a metal plate made and attached to my back teeth and then under my front teeth on the top!!! Hanibal Lector springs to mind.

Have finished my knitted garment and ordered some wooden toggles for it. It's very nice!!

Loved Last Tango in Halifax. A superb series!!

See you soon. xxx
oh dear, shaney, these are sad times. And now Lottie's going to gussy herself up...

I think I might be going to be human again. Came in hungry and have eaten a crab and dill paste sandwich and had some orange drink. Result.
You'd think by now Mr S wouldn't need to do the rigmarole wouldn't you, what with all the EU reciprocal stuff.
