Albert Schweizer was well known for his medical missionary work at Lambarene in West Africa. Apart from being a Doctor of Medicine he was a Doctor of Music and (I think) a Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Divinity as well. (haven't checked it out on Google)
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1954.
I suppose his initial claim to fame was his skill on the concert organ. His 'Bach, Toccata & Fugue' was one of the best known at the time, still is as far as I'm aware.
Photographs of him in later years shows a look alike stand-in for Albert Einstein (Must be something to do with the name Albert!).
A remarkable man with a love of humanity. His medical Mission at Lambarene (which he fonded in 1913) is still flourishing.
