I meant christianity. Just because people know he is doesn'tanswer my question, why did people know who he was. what did he do?

Albert Schweizer was well known for his medical missionary work at Lambarene in West Africa. Apart from being a Doctor of Medicine he was a Doctor of Music and (I think) a Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Divinity as well. (haven't checked it out on Google)

He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1954.

I suppose his initial claim to fame was his skill on the concert organ. His 'Bach, Toccata & Fugue' was one of the best known at the time, still is as far as I'm aware.

Photographs of him in later years shows a look alike stand-in for Albert Einstein (Must be something to do with the name Albert!).

A remarkable man with a love of humanity. His medical Mission at Lambarene (which he fonded in 1913) is still flourishing.

in Paul's case, as I said: because he wrote much of the Bible. You don't get much more widely known than that.
Gladys Aylward - her story was told in the film "The Inn Of the Sixth Happiness".
