Absolutely Tora Tora Tora- he was certainly a gift to us as a nation, and despite the best efforts of history revisionists, must remain as the most iconic political leader Britain has ever had.

Thank you for posting that, sinead.

It's a privilege, Naomi!

For us all.

 And all fuelled by Bollinger & Cognac.                                     He once said;

“He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire."

[On Labour politician Stafford Cripps.]

Where are they now, these men when we need them?

Probably 'cancelled', Khandro.

The greatest ever Brit in my opinion.

naomi: Yes, If he was invited to talk today at a British university, the snowfakes would probably 'no platform' him.

Quite.

I always think it's amazing Churchill lost the 1945 general election

Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.

Done nothing today except watch D-Day on TV.

Thread wrecked by the usual person again. And today of all days.  He displays all that is wrong with our country.

Thanks for posting TTT

Gulliver, there's a time and a place to attack the politics of others, a thread inspired by the 80th anniversary of D-Day is not it. Have some respect, eh?
