Is Jesus a myth? Christians keep telling me he is alive, but he doesn't seem to want to talk to me! I think we should be told!

a myth?? i thought being allegedly male he must be a myther. My views on this are that there once was a guy called jesus who was the then equivalent of a faith healer and his reputation got blown out of all proportion to his actual deeds. The whole thought behind most religions is quite nice you know love yourself and your neighbour, but as long as we have bigots like Paisley et al distorting this to their own ends we will never have any harmony on this little planet.
It is said that there are reccords of a fellow named 'Jesus' way back when, but whether or not this is the Jesus referred to in the 'Bible' etc is not truly known. To these Christians you speak of, he did/does exist, but like all other religions, scientific proof of their truth is yet to be provided. It's all about faith and personal belief, and if you believ in Jesus then I guess that that is enough. I myself am an athiest with scientific leanings, but I accept that everyone has their own singular, unique beliefs and I respect it. I would say go with your heart on this matter.

The 'thought behind most religions' is CONTROL sft42 agrees. Don't you sft42? burn the witches? They should burn the preachers. Well not actually burn them just render them into learners would be good. Also, AB, wouldn't a Religion Category be more popular than Home and Garden which hardly ever gets posts. Maybe call it Religion Home and Garden. Surely Religion is a popular subject for preachers and naysayers. We should promote it as a subject by having it as a category.

Most evidence for Jesus is indirect, however, they recently found a Jewish limestone burial box (forgotten the actual name for them) with the name of one of Jesus' brothers, and the words 'Son of Joseph', which the archeaologists were saying was likely to be refering to the same Joseph who fathered Jesus, as, somehow it was statistically improbable, to belong to anyone else... try searching one of the popular-science sites for more info... As to the existance of Jesus today... The bible talks about Jesus living on in a spiritual sense, not a physical manifestation. Religion is not about control. That is a by product of man's failings exercised through the guise of religion. Relgion itself is quite benign. It is only man who is malignant.

Even though religious people do live in a world of fear. Fear of death, damnation and a life in purgatory. It is said that the founder of christianity, the guy that brought it to western europe based Jesus on a mythical character from where he lived. Jesus inherited a lot of his stories and mythologies. However, I have no doubt that there was someone in Jerusalem called Jesus at that time. Hey, Zeus.
You said it TW! God bless Liberty.
Jesus is not a myth but Christianity might be.
People invented religions because they didn't know about evolution or the big bang, So they said 'Let's make up someone, and say he made the earth. Therefore Jesus Christ / Moses / God are all basically fictional characters.

I think that Jesus was a real person, but I'm just not sure about that Brian chap. Wasn't it reported that the ossuary, burial/bone box, of James was empty and the inscription regarding Jesus could be a forgery? We may never know all the answers.........
