theres a man giving out leaflets in my town , i gave him a gobful about indians and blacks dying for him during the war. so he has the right to give out leaflets of his choice ,what can i tell him next time ,need some good historical facts

How about during the European football championships certain places in the UK were disallowed from putting up English flags on their cars because they were seen as racist. We live in a democracy they have a right to air their views.

MINISOOMS - are you disagreeing with him because you genuinely believe his manifesto is objectionable or because you're jumping on a populist moral bandwagon? If you were actually against his beliefs, you wouldn't be here asking for quick quips to counteract him. Tell us what it says on his leaflet, then research some of these points. Then you can explain to him your thoughts on these matters and discuss in which areas you think he's got the wrong attitude.

Do you give establishment parties i.e. Labour and Tory a "gobful" about killing or supporting the killing of Iraqis, Afghans, Serbs? Do you give old-style Communists a "gobful" about Stalins's exterminations? If you haven't got good historical facts, why do his beliefs antagonise you so much?

Take a leaflet and read it.... if other country's/religions can preach in this country then this person has ever right to hand out these leaflets.

dj_ajax - the poster isn't suggesting that the leafleter's views should be censored, they are asking for facts that they can use to counter those views. Perfectly reasonable. Your comment about english flags is pathetic. Just where is the evidence that english flags were banned? Its another ridiculous smear story with no basis in fact.

i live in banbury, jumping on a bandwagon!the man supports the national front that cant be right in anyones mind,i just scanned his leaflet and threw it at him ,but im sure it didnt talk about human unity and one love,and yes i did rant at the labour man who came round my house asking for my vote for a party that started a war i thought was wrong,i havent met any commies,i just dont think people should cause racial tention, and yes that includes other races.

There is no-way I believe in the actions of the BNP or The National Front. I do believe, however, that they have a right to have their point of view heard and let the general public make up their own minds. That is what democracy is all about.

youve got me wrong i do believe people should be able to express their views afterall we live in a deocracy because we won the war which i find ironic in this case,i just wish people could get along, yeah i know thats a simple view and will never happen,just the way i feel

Re. racial tension - I can't see much evidence throughout the world (but especially in non-white areas) that different ethnic groups can get along. It seems to be perfectly acceptable for Asians and Blacks to place a value on preserving their ethnicity through stigmatising interracial relationships etc,., but as soon as a white bloke does it he gets the old Nazi bogey held up.

I'm sorry if I sounded a bit confrontational in my first reply Minisooms, but it does seem strange that the media (e.g. the recent BBC programme) is so keen to look into the activities of the BNP etc, while we've got a party in power that has killed tens of thousands, and parties in the North of Ireland linked to organisations that have killed (SF/PUP) are actively encouraged to participate in the democratic process. It must really **** of the Lefties like the SWP etc. that the media never probes them and thir "revolutionary" activities! Makes you wonder who the Establishment is really scared of.
