4 posts in 24 hours - 2 of which constitute some geezers cheesy tale from his old forces days and 1 of which is just inane drivel about being second to post.

Why is this category here ??

Who knows? Some users suggested a military category and the AB team listened.

I'll give you your due - "it certainly ain't rocket science" right enough.

I just noticed this new category whilst browsing and don't intend returning to it.

But at least I boosted the number of posts from 4 to 5 - job done I would say !!

The point is, like it or nor we're in the middle of 2 unpopular wars at the moment, people don't know a lot about how squaddies, matelots and airmen think and go about their business and might want to know more. There are a few of us on Answerbank who have served in the Forces and are able to answer their questions. Also, the Forces tend to be a 'closed community' if you know what I mean and when we get together we like to 'chew thew fat' and tell 'war' stories and relate funny incidents that have happened to us or others during our service.

I'm all for sharing info, not sure what this topic will entail - but is Society & Culture the right place? It seems a little clandestine.
